My friends call me Ed.
It's been a while since I have done any writing, but I find it very cathartic.
I graduated from the University of Florida in March of 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. In May of 1984 I graduated from Emory University as a Master of Theology, and started my first career as a Methodist Minister in Florida. In June of 2008 I completed a second Master's in Computer Information Systems from Nova Southeastern University's online Master's program.
In March of 1988 I started work at Delta Airlines, where I was taught mainframe programming from scratch, and discovered I had a knack for programming. Since then I have been a Software Engineer and Senior Architect for Delta, MasterCard, Premier (a health care company) and now for Wachovia Securities. Business sector is much less important to me than the art of programming and design.
My hobbies are as varied as my careers have been. I love to read, enjoy woodworking, and as an offering at the altar of geekdom, I collect comic books. I also program for fun (I know, don't I get enough of that at work?), and like to play computer games with my two sons.
My goal in the next 5 years is to become a teacher at the Community College or University level. I love to teach, and have managed to create a teaching opportunity for myself at each place I have worked. I see this as a way of combining my varied experiences and giving back to an industry that has been very good to me.
